How it works
A scene groups desired states for several accessories into one action. It differs from an automation, which adds a trigger or conditions to run an action. A scene’s outcome depends on the accessories being reachable and supporting the requested commands.
A practical example
A reading scene could set a lamp and another light to selected levels. If one device is offline, only part of the scene may run. Give it a descriptive name and test each accessory separately before assuming the group succeeded.
What to check
Check included devices, target states, room assignments and account access. Activate the scene manually and inspect the actual result. Verify whether it needs a hub or internet connection, and keep ordinary manual controls usable.
Limits and safe next steps
Do not assume a scene is a safety system or that every action completes simultaneously. Avoid grouping hazardous loads or access-control changes without suitable safeguards. Review scenes after replacing or renaming accessories.
